Heading Out For A Great Weekend At The Woodland Garden

Well it is Saturday morning and we are headed out to the woodland garden. It seems as if we have almost abandoned it cause it has been so long since we have spent the weekend. Last year there was so much to do with the landscape services and this spring a lot of pond cleanings and work on pond repairs. It is time now to get back to the woodland garden. I plan to spend a great deal of the rest of the year out there. I think it is the one place I can relax and get away from the pressure that comes from running the urban garden week after week. With all the construction that is taking place and the changes it is very hard to keep on track of the plan. At the woodland garden the plan is all about relaxing and doing what I want to do at my own pace and my own way.

While it may not be glamorous this first weekend of cleanup and readying the cabin and such I am sure that I will be able to find some good shots to take and will write about it when I return. I know not everyone is lucky enough to have a place to get away to on the weekends but if you have a garden at least that can be an escape. It may not be huge and maybe only a balcony but it is a place you can go and sit and relax. It is important to be able to slow down and relax you don’t want to miss out on everything going on around you and lots of times we are so wrapped up in the every day we don’t get a chance to look past that and see the wonders of nature.

Have a good weekend get out in your gardens and enjoy! See you Monday.

A Spring Day At The Woodland Garden

Last weekend I was out at the woodland garden getting some of the Spring chores taken care of. I had a chance to seed the lawn thin spots as well as fertilize everything. I noticed the deer and rabbits had been around so I also sprayed my putrefied egg mixture to protect the more susceptible plants.

The early spring flowers were up and starting to bloom including my favorite bleeding heart.

The anemone’s were also blooming they are really starting to spread. I like how delicate they are and they give an extra bit of cheerfulness in the early spring before some of the other plants are ready to bloom

Of course the other nice things to see were the ferns coming up along with the liles that will produce blooms latter on in the early summer. I wanted to go out this weekend but a pond rebuilding job will not make that possible. If all goes well though all the work I have scheduled for the rest of the spring pond cleaning season will be completed and I will be able to start spending the weekends at the woodland garden.

Lots of projects scheduled for this summer so check back each week as I will update and post usally on Mondays my progress.

Have a great week and spend some time in your garden. This weekend is Mothers Day so it is a great time to get started on your planting.
